Metal trophies

A metal trophy carries weight both literally and symbolically. When designed well, it becomes a lasting reminder of the achievement it represents. At Fabit, every metal trophy is engineered from scratch in 3D and produced entirely in-house, using brass, aluminum and steel selected for the design, the occasion and the recipient.

Custom metal trophies engineered for permanence

Metal remains the leading material for trophies because it delivers what recognition demands: presence, durability and a finish that holds its character over time. A well-made metal trophy feels less like a purchase and more like a statement about the achievement it represents.

Fabit has produced metal trophies for international esports championships, motorsport events, professional sports leagues and corporate recognition programs, including projects for Red Bull, ESL, Mercedes and Nintendo. With more than 32,500 trophies delivered worldwide and 7,500 unique designs completed, our experience spans everything from broadcast trophy cups to sculptural awards designed for personal display.

Engineered for weight, presence and longevity

Metal trophies require careful engineering. Material selection, construction and finishing all shape how the piece performs on stage, in photography and over years of display. These principles guide every project at Fabit.

Three metals, each with a purpose

We work with brass for density and traditional premium feel, aluminum for complex structures that need to stay light, and steel for durability in pieces that will be handled repeatedly. Material selection is always driven by the design and the context.

Precious metal finishes as differentiators

Gold plating, silver plating and other precious metal surface treatments elevate the base material and communicate tier and distinction visually. We apply these selectively, as part of the overall design rather than as a default.

3D engineering before any production begins

Every metal trophy goes through a full 3D design phase, allowing us to resolve structural details, proportion and surface treatment before the first piece is produced. Changes happen on screen, not in the workshop.

Our metal trophy process

Every metal trophy we produce follows a structured process from initial brief through to delivery at the event or venue. Here is how that looks in practice.

Step 1

Briefing & strategy

We define your objectives, audience, timeline and budget. Together we establish the creative direction, technical requirements and scope of the project.

Step 2

Concept & 3D design

Our designers translate your briefing into detailed 3D concepts. You receive realistic visuals for review and refinement before production begins.

Step 3

Production & finishing

After approval, your metal trophy is produced in-house and finished to specification. Each piece is inspected before it leaves the facility.

Step 4

Worldwide delivery

We handle packaging, logistics and international shipping to ensure safe, on-time delivery anywhere in the world, whether it is one trophy or a full event set.

Frequently asked questions

Commissioning a custom metal trophy raises questions about material selection, structural engineering, finishing options and how the design process handles the specific demands of live event presentation and long-term display.

Across sports organizations, esports brands and corporate recognition programs, the questions tend to cluster around the same core concerns: what the material choices mean in practice, and how to get from a brief to a finished piece on time. Here are the most common questions we receive from event organizers and brand teams looking to commission custom metal trophies.

The answer depends on the size of the trophy, how it will be used and the visual character required. Brass is the most traditional choice for premium trophies: it is dense, takes a polished or plated finish beautifully and communicates weight and permanence in a way that is immediately legible. Steel offers similar density with greater structural strength, which makes it appropriate for pieces that will be handled or transported frequently. Aluminum is lighter and more workable for complex or large-scale designs where weight needs to be managed without sacrificing visual presence.

Surface finishing interacts with the base material in ways that affect the final appearance significantly. Gold or silver plating over brass, for example, creates a different visual depth than the same treatment applied to aluminum. We work through these decisions in the briefing and design phase so that the material selection is made in the context of the full design.

The metal materials page provides a detailed breakdown of the alloys we use and how each responds to the finishing techniques we apply most often.

Yes. Multi-material designs are common in high-profile trophy commissions because combining metal with glass, crystal, acrylic or wood allows for visual contrast and design complexity that a single-material piece cannot achieve. Metal typically serves as the structural backbone, while secondary materials are used for panels, bases, inserts or decorative elements that add depth or color to the design.

For esports and gaming trophies, acrylic and LED elements are sometimes incorporated alongside metal to create pieces that respond to event lighting in distinctive ways. For corporate awards, wood and metal combinations are effective because they balance warmth and gravitas in a way that reads well in boardroom environments.

Our 3D printing materials page covers how additive manufacturing is used in combination with metal components for complex forms, and the finishes overview details the surface options available across material combinations.

The range of finishes available for metal trophies is broad. Polished chrome and high-gloss finishes deliver a mirror-like surface that photographs well and reads clearly under event lighting. Brushed or matte treatments create a more contemporary or understated aesthetic. Precious metal plating, including gold, silver, rose gold and black chrome, communicates tier and distinction and is often used on top-level championship or individual awards.

Color can be introduced through powder coating, enamel fills or printed accents, which is particularly relevant for trophies that need to carry specific brand colors or event identities. We discuss finish selection during the design phase, and our 3D renderings show realistic surface behavior before any production begins.

Large metal trophies introduce engineering considerations that go beyond aesthetics. Weight distribution, base stability, internal structure and how the piece will be handled during a live presentation are all factors that need to be resolved at the design stage. We address these in the 3D concept phase, where structural decisions are made with the same attention as visual ones.

For large centrepiece trophies designed for stage presentation, we also consider how the piece will be transported safely between production and the event venue, and we design the packaging accordingly. Fabit handles all packaging and logistics in-house, so the same team that designed and produced the trophy is responsible for getting it there in perfect condition.

For related services covering championship and large-format trophies, championship trophies and trophy cups cover the specific considerations for those formats.

Metal trophies are used across sports, esports, automotive, finance, gaming and corporate recognition, among others. The material is versatile enough to carry the design language of very different industries, which is part of what makes it the default choice for high-profile recognition. A metal trophy for a motorsport event looks entirely different from one produced for a banking industry award, but both rely on the same core material properties: weight, surface quality and the ability to hold a premium finish.

Fabit has produced metal trophies for clients including Red Bull, ESL, Mercedes and Nintendo, covering events and programs across multiple sectors and geographies. For an overview of how metal trophies fit into the full range of recognition formats we produce, visit the services page
