About this case

For Fortra, a global cybersecurity company, Fabit designed and produced a custom recognition award reflecting the company’s mission to disrupt and defeat cyber threats.

Cyberattacks follow a predictable pattern known as the attack chain. Fortra’s mission is to break that chain by enabling cybersecurity professionals with intelligence driven security solutions. The award needed to visually translate this mission into a powerful recognition object.

The result is the Chain Breakers Award, a sculptural piece centered around a metallic chain element that represents the attack chain and the power of breaking it.

The challenge

The award needed to embody Fortra’s mission while staying visually aligned with the company’s brand identity.

A central requirement was the chain element, representing the cyber attack chain that Fortra’s technology aims to disrupt. At the same time, the design needed to reference the company’s logo without becoming a literal brand replica.

Another challenge involved achieving the exact metallic color of the chain. Multiple paint samples were developed and sent to the client to ensure the finish matched Fortra’s brand colors and expectations.

Materials

The award combines structural 3D printing with premium finishing techniques.

The main structure was developed using precision manufacturing to achieve the triangular silhouette inspired by the “A” shape in the Fortra logo. The chain element was finished with a custom metallic paint in Fortra’s signature blue with a glossy coating.

The base features subtle “Chain Breaker” lettering printed in black-on-black using 2.5D printing technology, creating a refined highlight effect when light reflects across the surface.

The Chain Breakers Award translates a complex cybersecurity concept into a bold visual object.

Brand inspired design

The overall silhouette of the award was derived from the distinctive “A” shape in the Fortra logo.

This triangular geometry creates a strong architectural presence while subtly reinforcing the company’s visual identity.

Symbolizing the attack chain

The chain element forms the centerpiece of the award, representing the attack chain that cybersecurity professionals aim to disrupt.

Its metallic blue finish highlights the element while keeping the overall design visually balanced.

Subtle storytelling in the details

The phrase “CHAIN BREAKER” is integrated into the base using black-on-black 2.5D printing.

Rather than dominating the design, the text appears through light reflections, ensuring the focus remains on the sculptural form and the chain motif.
