MLBB Women’s Invitational 2025

A sculptural championship trophy celebrating women in esports

About this case

For the MLBB Women’s Invitational 2025, presented at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Fabit designed and produced the official championship trophy for one of the most-watched women’s esports tournaments in the world.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is one of the biggest mobile games on the planet, yet its esports scene in Asia has long been dominated by male athletes. Moonton wanted to change that narrative. The brief was clear: the object had to be feminine, inspiring and iconic, built around the idea that every girl, every woman, can step into the spotlight.

The trophy was designed as a sculptural championship piece carrying the storyline of women in esports. It was produced as a unique one-off, intended to be lifted on stage in front of a global audience of nearly 500,000 concurrent viewers and to be used by Moonton as a central part of their own marketing and storytelling.

The challenge

Moonton’s brief went far beyond aesthetics. The trophy needed to translate a cultural mission into a physical object: celebrating the rise of women in competitive esports, in a scene where they have long been underrepresented. Every design decision had to serve that narrative.

At the same time, the object had to work in two very different contexts: imposing enough to read clearly from a distance on a large championship stage and refined enough to feel premium and meaningful in the hands of the winning team.

The integration of in-game elements added an extra layer of complexity. The five player roles from Mobile Legends: Bang Bang needed to be embedded into the base in a way that felt deliberate and elegant, not decorative. The crystal, a key element in the game’s “final stand” mechanic, had to become the centrepiece of the design.

Design process

The trophy went through eight design iterations between December 2024 and April 2025. Each round required new renders, material samples and feedback loops, all within a fixed delivery deadline.

Three concepts were explored in December 2024: a spiral form, a pillar-and-crystal structure, and a more organic flowing shape. The client chose the second direction but pushed for something smoother and more elegant with feminine elements throughout, the five player roles in the base, and a ruby-red crystal at the top.

The body was narrowed, petals were raised, and the crystal received the brand’s red tone. The MLBB logo was integrated directly into the geometry rather than applied as a surface element. Two versions were developed in parallel (gold and white) to explore the colour direction.

A late intervention by Moonton’s team required a shift from gold to rose gold. This triggered a full revision of the finishing direction and a new 3D version of the MWI logo.

In April 2025, the client approved the final design. The trophy stood 60 cm tall, finished in pearl opal with rose-gold details, and shipped in a custom flight case with foam insert and wooden export crate.

Materials

The trophy combines high-precision 3D printing with a series of premium finishing techniques to create an object that changes character depending on the light.

The body and petals were produced using precision 3D printing, allowing for the organic, layered floral geometry that defines the form. The entire surface was finished with a pearl opal coating: an iridescent, multi-tone paint that shifts between white, violet and gold depending on the angle and the light. This finish makes the trophy exceptionally photogenic on stage, catching broadcast lighting in a way that flat or matte surfaces cannot.

Rose-gold accents were applied to the MWI Women’s Invitational logo badge at the centre of the trophy and across the five player-role symbols on the base. The MLBB logo on the base was rendered in white against the rose-gold background, creating clear visual hierarchy between the brand elements.

The crystal topper (a fragmented, angular form in deep pink) was produced separately and seated at the crown of the trophy, referencing both the in-game mechanic and the energy of competition.

From concept to a symbol of women in esports

The MLBB Women’s Invitational trophy was designed from the ground up as a sculptural statement: an object that carries a cultural message.

Building the story into the form

The floral silhouette (an opening krokus) was chosen deliberately. Petals rising upward, a crystal at the centre: the form itself communicates growth, potential and the moment of stepping into the light. Nothing in the design is decorative without also being meaningful.

Eight rounds, one result

The collaboration with Moonton was one of the most intensive design processes in this category. Eight briefing rounds over several months, each one pushing the design closer to a version that satisfied both the creative ambition and the brand requirements. The final object is the result of that commitment on both sides.

Made for the world stage

The trophy was produced and delivered in time to be lifted by Team Vitality on the SNB Esports Arena stage in Riyadh on 19 July 2025, in front of nearly 500,000 concurrent viewers: the most-watched women’s MLBB moment ever recorded. Team Vitality completed a flawless run of 13 wins and 0 losses to claim the title, with Cinny Siswanto named Grand Final MVP.
