For Thunderpick, Fabit designed and produced the championship trophy presented at the 2024 World Championship. The project centred around the brand’s most recognisable visual asset: the Thunderpick bolt. Rather than serving as a decorative detail, the bolt forms the visual and structural focal point of the award, creating an unmistakable connection between the trophy and the championship identity.

The design combines references to electrical energy and geological force. Rising from a textured lava stone-inspired base, metallic gold lava streams increase in scale and intensity as they approach the summit, culminating in the chrome blue Thunderpick bolt. The composition creates a sense of upward momentum while reinforcing the significance of reaching the highest level of competition.

The result is a championship trophy that balances brand recognition, visual impact, and production precision. Designed specifically for esports’ biggest stage, the completed piece delivers the presence and prestige expected of a world championship award while remaining unmistakably Thunderpick.

De uitdaging

The Thunderpick bolt is central to the brand’s visual identity and needed to remain the defining element of the trophy. Integrating this recognisable form into a large-scale championship award required careful consideration of structure, proportion, and visual balance.

At the same time, the trophy needed to communicate prestige and scale while combining two contrasting design languages: the organic movement of molten lava and the precise geometry of the bolt itself. Multiple design iterations refined this relationship before arriving at a final form where every element contributes to a single cohesive presentation.

Materialen

The trophy is produced using additive manufacturing, enabling the complex geometry required to combine flowing lava-inspired forms with the sharp edges of the Thunderpick bolt within a single structure.

A textured lava stone-effect finish grounds the base and provides visual contrast to the metallic elements above. Gold lava streams rise through the composition, individually finished to create depth and variation while reinforcing the sense of movement toward the championship symbol. The Thunderpick bolt is finished in chrome blue, creating a striking focal point that reflects the brand’s established visual identity.

Together, these materials and finishes create a trophy that balances scale, detail, and durability while supporting the distinctive character of the championship.

From initial concept development to final assembly, every stage focused on creating a trophy that reflects the identity, prestige, and competitive significance of the Thunderpick World Championship.

Brand-driven design

The trophy was developed around the Thunderpick bolt, ensuring the brand’s defining visual asset remained at the centre of the composition. The rising lava stream motif reinforces a sense of progression and achievement, directing attention toward the championship symbol at the summit.

Precision manufacturing

Additive manufacturing made it possible to produce the complex relationship between the organic lava forms and the bolt’s sharp geometry within a single structural design. This approach allowed the trophy to achieve both its intended scale and the level of detail required throughout the piece.

Verfijnde afwerking

Each lava stream is individually finished to create a graduated metallic effect that intensifies toward the top of the trophy. The chrome blue bolt receives multiple finishing stages to achieve depth, consistency, and visual impact. Final inspection ensures continuity across all surfaces, creating a championship award that maintains its presence during presentation, photography, and celebration.
