Partner awards are handed to people who do not work for you. That changes what the object has to do: it has to be good enough to sit in someone else’s reception area with your logo on it, and it has to make the partner want to keep earning it. A partner of the year award is a commercial instrument as much as a gesture. It gets photographed, posted and displayed by a company that also works with your competitors.
